WhistlePig Double Malt Rye is the most aged rye in our collection, maturing for 18 years. In the past, early American farmers would malt a small portion of their grain to kickstart fermentation, the crucial process that transforms water and rye into exquisite whiskey. Keeping with tradition, our Double Malt Rye is made from a blend of Rye, Malted Rye, and Malted Barley. Beyond its historical significance, these grains come together to create a captivating Rye Whiskey that boasts a diverse range of flavors. The majority of 79% Rye provides robust, spicy notes, while the addition of 15% Malted Rye brings a delicate, floral and earthy essence. The final 6% of malted barley adds a touch of indulgent, toasted flavors.
